UZEX and ICE Discuss Cooperation Prospects
On September 17, 2026, Asadulla Kayumov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange (UZEX), met with Maria Levanti, Director for the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of cooperation between UZEX and ICE, as well as the development of a modern derivatives market in Uzbekistan. Particular attention was paid to expanding opportunities for domestic businesses to access ICE futures markets and to the use of modern hedging instruments by commodity market participants.
In particular, as part of the UZEX GLOBAL project, the parties discussed opportunities to use ICE-traded cotton futures for hedging purposes by domestic farmers and textile companies.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on organizing specialized seminars for Uzbek entrepreneurs with the participation of ICE experts, as well as strengthening professional expertise in hedging practices and derivatives trading.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further develop cooperation, establish regular expert dialogue and pursue new joint initiatives.
