The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME Group), in cooperation with the international investment company Phillip Capital, is conducting international training webinars for the Uzbekistan Republican Commodity Exchange (UZEX) on August 18–19. The webinars focus on futures markets, price risk management, and hedging mechanisms.

The primary objective of the event is to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of UZEX specialists and market participants in the effective use of futures trading instruments, management of risks associated with price volatility, and application of international best practices in the context of Uzbekistan.

The webinars are attended by UZEX employees, brokers, traders, and other market participants, including commodity producers, processing enterprises, and other business entities.

On the first day of the webinar, participants explored the functioning of futures markets and modern hedging instruments. CME Group experts provided insights into the global derivatives market, clearing and risk management, regulatory mechanisms, and the Globex electronic trading platform.

Particular attention was also given to the activities of the UZEX Global joint venture, established through cooperation between UZEX and Phillip Capital, as well as opportunities for domestic businesses to access international commodity derivatives markets and the development of an effective hedging framework for commodity market participants.

Participants were introduced to the ways of accessing CME Group futures markets through UZEX Global, using futures instruments for hedging purposes, and mitigating risks associated with commodity price volatility.

These webinars represent an important part of the strategy to develop a national derivatives market on UZEX. They contribute to preparing local market participants for futures trading, enhancing their financial literacy, and developing the knowledge and practical skills required for the effective use of modern hedging instruments.
